Approach

Green Breakthrough Ventures (GBV) was created in 2022 by Shah Ali, Martin Kellerman and Neil Williams in order to pull their individual resources together. Based in Scotland, but with an international outlook, GBV backs companies developing and deploying innovative solutions in energy, cleantech and mobility.

The foundation of the GBV approach comprises four pillars:

1. GREAT PEOPLE: We support exceptional individuals and teams from early-stage to more established, scale-up businesses. We know from our own experiences that the entrepreneurial journey ahead will be full of highs and lows - we understand that - it makes us stronger. We invest in longer term collaborations to accommodate this journey.
2. GREAT IDEAS: GBV backs companies developing and deploying their own innovative solutions to challenges in energy, mobility, and the environment. We're continually impressed and excited by the many ways we see start-ups and scale-ups solve problems and change our world.
3. GROWTH POTENTIAL: Ambitious plans for growth inspire us. We can take an active role (e.g. sitting on the board, participating in R&D) to help businesses reach their full potential. Several of our portfolio businesses, are growing internationally.
4. FLEXIBLE INVESTMENT: Our flexibility is one of our strengths. GBV has experience of investment rounds between £100K and £10m. We often are involved from pre-seed through to Series A/B.
